There are a number of themes in the book of 1 John. In 1 John you will find themes such as the divinity of Jesus, the importance of having right doctrine, living a godly life, and the centrality of love. Although there are a number of different themes there is perhaps one question above all others that John is seeking to answer; how does a person know that they are saved? We read this in 1 John 5:13, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John will inspire and challenge you to seek hard after Christ and to make sure your life reflects what it is that you say you believe.
