Although Jonah is a story simple enough for a child to understand we find that that there is a message that is deeply challenging for us today in our culture. God wants his people to move beyond their own comforts and to be willing to sacrifice so that even their enemies will come to know his Son by faith. God is a God of love, grace, mercy and compassion and this needs to be reflected in his church today. We will be forced to ask and answer the question, are we more like Jesus or Jonah?
