An Attitude of Gratitude

Luke 17:11-19: The Account of the Ten Lepers

Rev. Hank Roso will be sharing with us during our worship services this Sunday. We hope you will join us - either in person or online.

Our nursery is open!

We’ve made plans for additional safety and cleaning procedures and we are looking forward to welcoming children age 0-2 into our nursery area during both services and our Sunday School hour.

We encourage you to fill out the online Friendship Register when you worship with us online or in person. You can share prayer requests, ask questions about our ministries, or just let us know that you’d like someone to contact you.

Deeply Rooted in God’s Word Together

From June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021 we will be focused on intentionally setting aside time to read God’s Word. We have some tools for you as well as ways to let us know what you've been reading so we can track our progress as a church family. We'd like read 52,000 chapters this year!

We have new reading cards for December - January! You can pick up reading plan cards in the foyer. We also have a basket for completed cards. If you’ve been letting us know how many chapters you’re reading through our online form, we don’t need the cards back - we don’t want to count the chapters twice. But if you haven’t told us yet, we really want to record your numbers so we can reach our goal of 52,000!

You can track any chapters that you read. If you aren’t sure where to start, we have resources to help on our website.

Women’s Weekly Zoom Meeting

A group of women will be having a weekly Zoom meeting on Monday evenings (7:30-8:30pm) to discuss the Bible Reading on the plan. If you’d like to join in you can contact Dawn S. (dawnmstee@gmail.com) or Dana N. (dananiemann@gmail.com) to get the Zoom invite.

Christmas with Dignity is a way for parents in our community to receive assistance without the embarrassment of asking for help. Showing God’s love in this practical way enables dads and moms an opportunity to provide a joyful experience for their children, even if they need a little help to make it happen.

We have partnered with Brothers and Sisters Behind Bars, Midwest Bible Camp, and our local Drug Court program to gather “wish lists” for local kids. These gifts will be returned to New Life and then distributed to parents so they can give them to their children.

1. Select a tag from the Gift Tree in the foyer. Tags will be available November 29 – December 6.

2. Purchase gifts with their favorites in mind. Try to include some things  just for fun as well as some clothes or shoes that could help with family needs. This is a great time to get your kids or grandkids involved—kids know what other kids would like!

3. Wrap the gifts. Some of these parents have strained relationships with their families because of past choices. We want to make it easy for them to put a smile on the faces of their kids this Christmas!

4. Return wrapped gifts (with the tag) to New Life by December 13.

5. Be praying for the parents and kids that receive the gifts!

We have some exciting news about new staff at New Life!

The elders are recommending that Glenn Walker transition from his current part-time Worship Director staff position to be a full-time Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Worship.

They are also bringing a recommendation to fill the Associate Pastor of Youth and Family position. We have had a search team in place for the last few months, since Pastor Kyle left. You will get to meet Billy Evans and his family January 15-17.

We invite you to join us next Sunday, December 6, during the Sunday School hour (10am), to hear from the elders and search team. God has been at work throughout the last months in both of these areas and we are looking forward to sharing that with our church family. We will not have adult Sunday School classes on December 6 or 13. On December 13 at 10am, Glenn Walker will be sharing what God has put on his heart as it relates to the Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Worship position. You do not need to be a member to attend these sessions - everyone is invited to come and hear how God is leading!

New Life members will be voting to confirm both of these recommendations. Watch for a letter in the mail with more details and dates.

We are working on updating our church photo directory.

Click here to fill out a form with your current contact information. Or you can give us call at the church office (886-1977) and we can go through your information on the phone.

You can send a new family photo to: sherryd@newlifeefree.org. You are also welcome to stop by the church office with a printed photo and we can scan it and give it right back to you. We are not picky about the photos - snapshots or even selfies are fine!

Missions Prayer Focus

Tim & Julie Nelson, serving with Avant:

Praises:

  • Tim & Julie flew back safely to Honduras November 19. They were able to switch airports (the original airport was flooded) and hurricane #2 was dissipated.

  • Lenin, their Honduran pastor, had Covid and recovered well. No one else at their church had gotten the virus.

Prayer requests:

  • Pray that relief work will continue from the severe devastation from Hurricanes Eta and Iota and resources needed to rebuild and that the gospel will be shared.

  • Pray that construction work will continue at Camp CALY, their retreat center. Pray for preparation work for the next work team.

  • Pray for their upcoming trip to Angola in April 2021 for all the logistics to be worked out for the legal documents for them to minister there.

  • Pray for Tim's family recovering from Covid.
